My love for pottery runs deep—it's woven into the fabric of my life. Growing up in Stoke-on-Trent, I was surrounded by the industry. My family’s roots in pottery run strong, from my grandfather’s market stalls to my dad’s pottery business, and my brother’s role throwing the Jasper wear for Wedgwood. Summers were spent at my dad’s factory, where I got hands-on with everything from lithographing to guilding. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of every job on a potbank and a lifelong passion for the craft.
Through university, I filled my Metro with pottery every week, driving up and down the motorway to sell at London markets. My career took me into journalism and later into advertising, where I led a branded content team. But when I moved back to Stoke and found myself facing redundancy, I returned to my roots—selling pottery for my family at local markets while setting up my content marketing agency. It was there I noticed something special: a growing demand for ethically made, UK-produced pottery.
Motivated by this enthusiasm for locally crafted, customisable mugs, I founded Sipp of Stoke. With Sipp, I wanted to create more than just a product; I wanted to create a brand that embodies the values I hold dear—high quality, ethical production, and sustainability. Our fine bone china mugs are not only customisable but also a celebration of the rich heritage of pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, made with care for both people and the planet. Join us on our mission to bring pottery back to the Potteries.
