Care
Isn’t it funny how everyone seems to have a favourite mug? Some people love a tall, slender shape, while others won’t drink their tea from anything but a sturdy, round one. That’s what I love about mugs—they’re so personal, almost like an extension of who we are. After spending over 20 years in London, I moved back to Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of the UK’s pottery industry, where my love for these quirky, everyday objects took on a whole new meaning.
Growing up in Stoke, pottery was in the air I breathed. My grandfather sold his wares at local markets, my father worked in the potbanks, and my brother spent his days at Wedgwood. Pottery isn’t just a craft here—it’s a way of life. So when I came back home, it felt only natural to return to the markets, selling pottery just like my grandfather did. That’s when I noticed something special: people weren’t just looking for mugs, they were searching for something with meaning—ethically made, locally crafted pieces they could truly connect with.
That’s how Sipp of Stoke came to be. I wanted to create mugs that are as unique as the people who use them—high-quality, customisable fine bone china that speaks to both tradition and modernity. We’ve taken heritage designs and breathed new life into them, making them fit seamlessly into the rhythm of 21st-century life.
And what makes these mugs truly special is the craftsmanship behind them. Each one passes through 26 pairs of hands, a process that’s as much about preserving our heritage as it is about creating something new.
At Sipp, every mug is a little piece of Stoke-on-Trent’s rich history, but with a modern twist. We’re not just making mugs—we’re reviving the craft, bringing jobs back to our community, and setting new standards for ethically made fine bone china. Our mugs are made with care for both people and the planet, using ethically sourced bone that would otherwise end up as landfill, and ensuring that every bit of waste is recycled.
The beauty of Sipp is that every mug can be customised to fit your style. Whether you prefer a certain shape, a particular colour, or even a design that reminds you of a time gone by, we can make it happen. Each piece is a celebration of craftsmanship, tailored to your tastes, and designed to be treasured for years.
I’m proud to say that Sipp of Stoke is on a mission to breathe new life into the pottery industry here in Stoke, create local jobs, and set a new standard for sustainability in the world of fine bone china. We’re working hard to become the first BCorp certified fine bone china company in Staffordshire, proving that you don’t have to compromise on quality or ethics.
